I was asked a few weeks ago to write a short article for CEO Today Magazine.  It was published this past week in their Online edition.  The article is about a topic I speak on often: How to do more with the same resources you have and focuses on identifying and quantifying the time resources spend that are not productive for the company nor favored by the employee.  An example might be how often people…

It was my privilege to write a piece on Time Management software trends which was published this week.  CEO World has a massive subscription so I was delighted when they asked if I’d write an Op Ed for their readers. You can read the article in its entirety at: It’s About Digital Time: Top Time Management Software Trends Include Mobility, Cloud, BI, Automation.

“We’d like to move to more transactional project management,” was the most often repeated phrase I heard this year in project management circles. For some, this is a cry from Millennials (those born between 1981 and 1996) to reject the ancient project planning relics of the past and move into more modern thinking.  “Let’s go Agile,” is the first call.  “Let’s use one of the new project tools like JIRA or Trello,” are also signs…

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by CEOCFO Magazine recently.  Bud Wayne and I covered a wide range of topics about HMS, TimeControl and our views of the future of the high tech industry in general and business software in particular.  You can read the interview in its entirety at ceocfointerviews.com

It’s ready! The 5th edition of the American Management Association Handbook of Project Management is available on Amazon as of today! I have the great honor of writing the section on Enterprise Project Management for the book and the privilege of joining so many great writers in the book. Each edition of this book has been well received over the years and I have no doubt that this one will be too. The editing team…

Thanks for your patience as we updated the EPMguidance site. Don’t worry. The blog is still there in its entirety but the site now reflects some of the other activities that we do. This isn’t a life change as I’m still the President of HMS, the publishers of TimeControl but now instead of spreading my other interests across multiple sites, I’ve been able to consolidate them here on the EPMGuidance site.

I’ll be headed to Dallas tomorrow (May 17) to speak at the Dallas PMI Chapter’s Symposium.  I’ll be talking about one of my favorite subjects, how to increase resource capacity without hiring.  It’s always a pleasure to speak with people who have similar business challenges about how to overcome them and I learn something new every time I get to engage in one of these dialogs. Aside from my speaking opportunities, there are more articles…

It’s been a busy time around here.  Aside from a may product release at HMS as we launched TimeControl 7.3, I’ve had some other activities underway.  This week I was delighted to be able to do a talk with the ProjectSummit*Business Analyst World conference in Orlando.  I do some volunteer time with the advisory board of the PW*BA conference.  I’ve been associated to ProjectWorld since the very first conference ever in Toronto over 20 years…

“Can your system help us? We have two distinct groups.” This is a remarkably common request here at HMS. In our case we’re talking about how to take care of timesheet collection for multiple groups using our TimeControl timesheet system but the request is common to many project management environments.  This comes up whenever we have multiple groups trying to use the same project control environment. From one perspective, there are many benefits to grouping…
